08/22/11: EXPLAINING MYSELF/SUMMER MEETINGS
It’s been the summer of the buyer it seems. Something not mentioned when it comes to purchasing prints is that I will deliver any piece (and install in some cases) any where in LA and Orange counties. I’m grateful for the support, and I just want buyers to get their print as soon as possible. But most of all, it’s been super cool to meet people that I would never otherwise meet. All super cool folks that I am proud to have as supporters. They are what’s going to be what I remember most about this summer.
When delivering a Mother’s Reach print to a client, we were talking about the title of the piece and the story behind it. It was then that I realized I might have shared it on the blog, but I hadn’t posted it on the site. Well, here is the official story that is going to be up on the new site that will be up in a few weeks.
mother’s reach
in time, she learned that maybe she could go on (dedicated to my widowed mother)
After my father passed away, my mother said she couldn’t imagine living on her own. For months she would stay at the side of my father’s gravesite. She didn’t know what else to do. Sunburns and bug bites weren’t enough to keep her away. Despite the lingering pain and subsequent fear, my mother grew to learn that she could go on. She would call me with triumph in her voice explaining how she went to the DMV and Social Security office all on her own. She lives in Bakersfield, CA and I take the 5 North through the farmlands to visit her. On one trip to visit her, I noticed a lone tree along the highway that reminded me of her. It was in early spring and there was a tree that was just beginning to sprout. It was a new season, and despite the cold winter days, that tree and my mother still blossomed.
I think your work is fabulous!
